In Ephesians 4:30-32 we read, “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. (31) Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: (32) And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.” Please notice again the phrase “And be ye KIND one to another…”
How many times in a day do we lose our temper, snap at those we love, ignore those with whom we work, go to school and interact each day? Sometimes, we are so wrapped up in our life, our problems, what we are trying to get done, we simply tune others out. You see, being “KIND” requires us to care for others. It requires us to concentrate on their needs. It forces us to look away from ourselves and look at others.
Like most things, kindness is something we usually overlook, often take for granted, and seldom think about. If you asked many people, most of them would tell you that they are “KIND” to others, and most of the time they are! But God has told us always to be “KIND” to others. And again, in our attempt to be living within His will, this is another facet of our lives of which we must be aware. Being “KIND” in a Biblical sense means that we need to put others before ourselves. We need to look at serving others instead of serving ourselves. Kindness requires our focus to be on someone else.
One thing I learned early in my ministry was that only God can change a human heart. He uses us as instruments to touch people’s lives and soften their hearts, so He can speak to them. Our acts of kindness to others are a way for God to speak to someone who needs Him. You never know where a person really is in terms of their relationship with God, but God does. Our kindness to someone at a critical point can be the act that opens their heart to hear God's voice speaking to them.
Today, I pray that you focus on being “KIND” to others. Never underestimate how God is using you. It is usually in those simple acts of kindness that God uses us the most. May I encourage you to practice being “KIND” to others each day, so that it becomes your natural response.
Our nature is to focus on ourselves first and others second. God wants us to change that nature to focus on others first and ourselves second. That means we must trust God to look after our needs. I am praying that your faith will be increased, so that you will trust Him to care for you, while you care for others. Today is a great day! It is unique because it is like no other day, and when it is gone, today will never be back. Make the most of it for Him.
It is hard to believe that this is the 7th year of sending the Weekly SERMON. We are still humbled by the ever increasing opportunity God has given us to continually be “…able to teach others also.” Starting with 10 e-mails in October 2003, these Weekly SERMONS are being sent to college students, now some 850 missionaries around the world, military personnel, pastors, evangelists, and former members of the churches where I have had the privilege of serving. The ministry wants to be a help to believers and at the same time extend the message to others.
Throughout this year we have been putting the Weekly SERMON series into a book format. Each sermon has four added features. There is a preaching outline handout and a teaching outline handout and suggestions for power point presentations. We have either completed or are in the process of completing the following: “Volume I: “Growing in Grace” – 13 chapters,” “The Names of God” – 14 chapters, “The Book of Joshua” – 16 chapters, Volumes I and II: “The Book of Philippians” – 13 chapters in each, and Volumes I and II” “The Glory and Power in the Church” – 13 chapters in each. Once these are completed we will begin to advertize them.
We do not, nor will we charge for the Weekly SERMON. However if these messages have been a blessing to you, and you can help with the COST of this endeavor for the Lord, we appreciate and thank you for your prayers and FINANCIAL SUPPORT. Yes, at times I need to extend my hand to give you an opportunity to extend financial support to enable us to carry on this ministry of extending the Word of God to others. For financial accountability we are handling all ministry funds through the Green Street Baptist Chapel of Edwardsville, PA. (Mailing address: Bible Baptist Ministry, 48 Alexie Rd, Hanover Township, PA 18706) Checks made out to the Green Street Baptist Chapel with a memo to Bible Baptist Ministry will be tax deductible for you and placed to the account for this ministry.
