Over the 51 years in the ministry I have come across 1000’s of quotes and sayings from many, many sources. I have them in sermons, the Weekly SERMON cover letter, church bulletins and for my own edification. Here are fourteen more of those sayings.

Among a people generally corrupt, liberty cannot long exist. – Edmund Burke

Look out for the compromising spirit. They had that in Pergamum and Thyatira, with the result that Balaam and Jezebel took advantage of a false tolerance and corrupted the life of the church. Sometimes we mistake compromise for charity and put up with what we should put out.

The devil did not tempt Adam and Eve to steal, to lie, to kill, and to commit adultery; he tempted them to live independent of God.

Moral and spiritual decline happens to individuals before it happens to nations. Commit to keeping God’s Word at the core of your life.

God sees all the doors and windows of opportunity. Only He knows the perfect time to close and open them.

When you have a problem, turn first to the Word of God and ask God to use it to show you the curse and cure.

Look around – who do you see with a need you could meet? Or who could you bless with an unexpected gift?

If you are concerned about God’s plan for your life, start with His plan for your day.

God has uniquely put you where you are to be His witness. You’re His ambassador, so look around you and find your mission field.

The greatest need in America is an old-fashioned, heaven-born, God-sent revival. Let’s begin praying earnestly for that revival.

If you are at the place God wants you to be, don’t quit. Instead, shut the door, pray, and ask God to give you a fresh idea for His work. Then begin pouring out of your little pot of oil. And as you pour out, God will pour in!

The man who hasn’t made up his mind to say, “Get thee behind me, Satan,” will take a long walk with the Devil every time he meets him. – Bill Sunday

Be conscientious about the fundamentals but not contentious over incidentals.

Jesus never taught men how to make a living; He taught men how to live. – Bob Jones, Sr.
