1. Hypocritical Singing:

1. We sing "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and are content with five to ten minutes a day to pray.

2. We sing "Onward Christian Soldiers" and wait to be drafted into His service.

3. We sing "O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing" and don't put the one we have to good use for Christ.

4. We sing "There Shall Be Showers of Blessing" but do not come to church when it rains.

5. We sing "Blest Be the Tie That Binds" and let the least little offense separate us.

6. We sing "Serve the Lord with Gladness" and gripe about all we have to do in His service.

7. We sing "I Love to Tell the Story" and never mention it.

8. We sing "We're Marching to Zion" but fail to march to Sunday school.

9. We sing "Cast Thy Burden on the Lord" and worry ourselves into a nervous breakdown.

10. We sing "The Whole Wide World for Jesus" and never invite our next-door neighbor.

11. We sing "O Day of Rest and Gladness" and wear ourselves out traveling, cutting the grass or playing golf on Sunday.

12. We sing "Throw out the Lifeline" and content ourselves with throwing out the fishing line.

2. Always room for your Bible. A certain Christian traveler was packing his suitcase when about to proceed on a journey. He remarked to a friend standing by: "There is still a little corner left open in which I desire to pack a guide-book, a lamp, a mirror, a telescope, a book of poems, a number of, biographies, a bundle of old letters, a hymn book, a sharp sword, a small library containing sixty-six volumes, and all these articles must occupy a space of about three by two inches." "How are you going to manage that?" asked the friend. "Easily," said the traveler, "for the Bible contains all of these things!”

3. America is amusement and entertainment mad, and we have the highest per capita rate of boredom of any people on the face of the earth. There's a delusion going around today, even in evangelical and fundamental circles sometimes, that we must be entertained at church. Christianity has come all the way from an experience to a performance. —Vance Havner

4. What does your anxiety do? It does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, but it empties today of its strength. It does not make you escape the evil – it makes you unfit to cope with it if it comes.

5. Seven Body Parts to Mind:

1. MIND YOUR TONGUE      Do not let it speak nasty, cruel, unkind or wicked words.

2. MIND YOUR EYES           Do not permit them to look on wicked books, pictures, or objects.

3. MIND YOUR EARS           Do not suffer them to listen to wicked speeches, songs or words.

4. MIND YOUR LIPS             Do not let profanity foul them.

5. MIND YOUR HANDS        Do not let them steal, or write evil words.

6. MIND YOUR FEET           Do not let them walk in the steps of the wicked.

7. MIND YOUR HEART         Do not let the love of sin dwell in it. Do not give it to Satan, but ask Jesus to make it His throne room.

In His Amazing Grace,

Pastor David Miklas
