For the next thirteen weeks of the Weekly SERMON we will focus our attention on the Nine Fruits of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:16-25. In these verses the Apostle Paul contrasts the “Lust of the Flesh” with the “Fruit of the Spirit.” The question from this passage is, in which do you walk?

In verses 22-23, Paul prescribes NINE aspects of this Spirit produced Fruit as the antidotes to what ails our age.

LOVE is an unconditional love that you can share with others, when you're frustrated with people causing you problems.

JOY is deep-seated contentment in the midst of life's circumstances that cause you to battle discouragement or depression.

PEACE is the constant assurance that your life is in God's hands when you're in the grip of anxiety.

LONGSUFFERING is the ability to endure and stay on the wisest path when you're in a situation that never seems to improve.

GENTLENESS is a kind compassion toward others that you never felt before to cure your irritable spirit.

GOODNESS is love in action to live a righteous life pleasing to God when immoral temptation creeps into your thoughts.

FAITH is living a life of loyalty to eternal values when fatigue makes you want to quit.

MEEKNESS is learning to respond to life with humility and awareness with subdued strength to check your tongue.

TEMPERANCE is self-control by being no longer subject to the whims and impulses of life which helps remedy everything from laziness to addictions.

The FRUIT of the SPIRIT represents NINE decisions we must cultivate in the orchard of our thoughts and behavior. Each of these qualities offers a dose of hope imminently available to all who desire it.

God sent us a Saviour:

If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent us an EDUCATOR.

If our greatest need had been technology, God would have sent us a SCIENTIST.

If our greatest need had been money, God would have sent us an ECONOMIST.

If our greatest need had been pleasure, God would have sent us an ENTERTAINER.

But our greatest need was forgiveness, SO GOD SENT US A SAVIOUR.

Calvin Coolidge wrote, “The foundations of our society and our government rest so much on the teaching of the Bible that it would be difficult to support them…if these teachings would cease to be practically universal in our country.”

John Bunyan wrote, “When thou prayest, rather let thy heart be without words than thy words without heart. Prayer will make a man cease from sin, or sin will entice a man to cease from prayer.
